Given that this chap no longer believed in much Christian lore, will he go to heaven or not ( Tongue in cheek question )

From link: "York Minster was struck by lightning and burst into flames just days after his consecration in 1984.
The events led some to believe that the fire was a sign of divine wrath in outrage at his appointment as bishop".

Mikey,If that is to be believed it is more probable that a creature with a trident and boiling cauldron awaits him...
Mikey.
He is going where Thatcher didn't go :-)
A great man: I used to actually feel sorry for his opponents in debate as he effortlessly ran rings round them.
He probably did more for his faith than all the "certainty-wallahs" as he called them.
RIP
We either all go to "heaven" or none of us do. We all came here regardless didn't we ? Perhaps the bish knows whether he was right or wrong now.
// We either all go to "heaven" or none of us do. //

Sounds like a terrible place.
"There is Heaven and Hell - On Earth, Heaven is Hangzhou." Is the ex-Bishop of Durham reincarnated, perhaps as one of Theresa's team or even in herself?
Gromit > Mikey.

What? Arthur Scargill's gaff for tea and crumpets?

Agchristie.....Well, considering she was cremated and this Bishop may find him self on the way to Hell, maybe there isn't such a difference after all !
Ashes to ashes Mikey!
Same as here Gromit, same as here.
'Hell is the absence of being in Heaven' was once said to me. Stayed with me.
ay he was foon - - - as they say oop t North

when the people of Durham wer easked who they would like as his successor, one said - A bishop who believes in God would be a start ....

his big thing was the Resurrection and whether it had physically occurred ( a trick with a bag of bones ) - only believers saw the resurrected Christ for starters .... and this take on theology was too much for his more earthy parishioners ( ok a bishop doesnt have parishioners - diocesan thingeys then )
Question Author
He quite clearly believed in a Christian God.

What he cast doubt on was things like the virgin birth and the resurrection. These issues are widely debated now but they weren't in 1982.

It now looks like the "virgin" bit was mistranslated from the original Greek, for instance.
