Dame Justice Lowell Goddard is now saying that she was prevented from picking her own staff for the Inquiry.

We are no farther forward with this affair than we were in July 2014, when Mrs May first set the Inquiry up.

Its starting to look as it will unravel, and what a surprise that is !

In truth will this " investigation. " ever happen ? Keep in mind TM is responsible for the farce it has now become .
One might begin to wonder if there was a person or group of very powerful people determined to thwart investigation into their perverted habits.
Ridiculous I know, as all public figures are blameless paragons of virtue, but you could see how suspicions might arise.

Anne....I had great confidence in 2014, when Mrs May first instigated this Inquiry. It was the right thing to do and I still believe it. Its been obvious to anybody that we should have done this years ago.

But its turned out to be a unmitigated farce ever since. We are now on the 4th Chair, and its no further forward than it ever was.

Child sexual abuse is still proceeding apace, as any casual perusal of the newspapers will tell you. Last week an arrest was made at Ampleforth College, and next week there will be another arrest somewhere else I suspect.

I am now coming to the conclusion that this Inquiry may never really get off the ground, which will be a great relief to many people and institutions on Britain today.

Dougie...what you have suggested has happened in the past and I see no evidence that it won't happen again in the future. Cyril Smith, amongst many, was protected and shielded from any kind of serious investigation, and went on to abuse further.
The catelogue of errors that have occurred with this inquiry are no coincidence. It is clear that it was set up to fail. People in powerful positions are stymying the process at every possible juncture.

I think you may be right Gromit. I recall Sir Humphrey saying that he quickest way to bury an issue was to start an Inquiry into it.
Indeed they are gromit. Too many people of " the establishment " will prevent this enquiry making any headway .
Whatever happened to 'third time lucky'?

You can't blame the group in some ways.A lack of continuity has blighted the investigation.Sometimes, things just don't work out but the investigation has been beset by disruption.

The optimist in me says that the truth will eventually emerge but it will be some time yet.

Look at Hillsborough. If there's always one thing it's hope...
Question Author
Agchristie....you are right about Hillsborough of course, so maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel after all. I just hope we don't have to wait another 25 years though.
Mikey > I just hope we don't have to wait another 25 years though.

Yes,may take another dozen chairs to get there!
Question Author
Too awful to even think about agchristie !
Not normally one for conspiracy theorising, but this has been going nowhere for a remarkably long time.
I'm confident that when the last political paedophile from the corridors of power has drew their last breath the inquiry will go ahead.

I'm not as confident that this may happen this century.
