The vast majority of our coppers are great people, doing a job that the rest of of us could never do...

...but this is the same fella last week that thought that smashed through a driver's windscreen.

Is this a real life version of that brilliant Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch?

Baldric - //Neither am I a racist, I just don't feel the need to declare it publically (well just this once then) //

I don't think this counts as 'declaring it publicly'.

Were you to write it on a banner and hire a plane to tow it over your town for a day, then maybe!! LOL!

Oh Andy, you're such a Wit!

Oops, forgot the ;o)

Maybe we aren't all intrinsically racist but it was something that I heard on a TV programme years ago (Bill Morris - when he was Commissioner of the Commission for Racial Equality).

Something about preconceptions about others and the desire to group together in groups of individuals who have our same background and/or view about life - or something like that. It is subconscious and not malicious. However some 'unbalanced' people take it a step further.

I'm off to make a Cat Enrichment Centre with toilet roll middles - such fun!

These are two different concepts.

One is grouping together with people of similar ethnicity for enjoyment and support offered by common language, customs and culture.

Absolutely natural.

The other is taking an irrational position of hostility to a complete stranger(s) based entirely on their origin and ethnicity.

Absolutely unnatural.

I don't think Mr Morris would be impressed to hear his point about natural ethnic support being likened to common bigotry!

@dive buddy....ain't that the truth and IMO that's where multiculturalism does not work...it is a tribal thing and always has been.

Andy, I know much much more about cat psychology than human. But there is much going on in our subconscious that we are not consciously aware of.

Humans are supposed to have an inbuilt fear of spiders and snakes. This has probably saved many lives. But not everybody is afraid of spiders and snakes - I don't understand if they have a faulty gene or are just fascinated by things that are dangerous.

divebuddy,

I spent my working career (until I lost the plot) working within the benefits system.

There are very few of the original travellers (travelling for seasonal work) around but the ones that I see around now are more like the fast talking guys that you would find at the fairground. A bit like a travelling Del Boy.

I once had a traveller (original version) come into the office to report his son for NOT working. He had no right to be on benefit when there was farm work available.

Should have smashed the driver in the face not the windscreen , Obey the law I do .
lol Gulliver !

You continue to baffle me with these pearls of wisdom that bear no relation to your comment about everyone being racist.

A fear of spiders and snakes is entirely rational - these animals can bite and be poisonous, but they are not aware of that, they simply react, sometimes in defence, which can be dangerous to humans.

That does not equate to some people taking against other people based on an entirely baseless notion that someone is inferior because of their skin colour and country of origin.
I feel a little bit queasy.
