/// More than 11,000 asylum seekers failed to turn up to their first meeting with border authorities, sparking costly attempts to track them down. ///
Dear oh dear, why is it that these foreigners do not play fair?
At least when caught, one would think that it is only polite to offer up with an apologetic note from their guardians.
Perhaps until all 11,988 of the missing are found, it should be announced that Britain is taking in their fair share, and no more are welcome.

/// why, doesn't providing a train ticket to east croydon and instructions to report to lunar house, constitue "internment"? ///
Maybe it would be best to cram them into the back of a lorry (after all that is their known mode of transport) and then take them to Lunar house.
Then wait until they are processed, before driving them back to 'from whence they came'?

/// No I don't agree - they are not prisoners, ///
Since they have illegally entered the country they are criminals and to make sure that certain criminals don't run away is to incarcerate them.
/// if they fail to register they cannot get access to public funds so it is not costing you
anything. ///
Read the report, it is not only about the access to public funds, it is the total cost of tracking them down, plus the other 'costs' that we have to face, by having illegal nationals roaming our country.

The simple fact is they cannot access public funds whilst they are illegal - they do not have the documentation or ID needed.
I know that this bit of factual information will be ignored but as I work with benefits and credits we are unable to pay out to illegal immigrants and those immigrants without the correct papers etc.

Difficult to find a definitive answer but I was considering that to be a crime for the employee as well as the employer. Islay, there would be two main sources of income.
1) Criminal activity. Police, ambulance, Courts ll come out the 'public purse' other crimes such as theft will cost innocent people money
2) Illegal working. This means no tax or national insurance is paid. That is a direct cost to the 'pubic purse' plus a job lost to a legally entitled person. They would have to pay cash to a landlord and you can bet that is not declared for tax plus a myriad of other things.
In addition, should any of these require medical attention are you really telling me the NHS will not treat them?
So, sorry, you are completly off track on this one.
