"the admiration is usualy taken out of context. " That, surely, is the point! I would like to hear some of these people (Trump, Evans, Farage) etc define "admiration" because I have a feeling that if you forced a bit of "context" into the equation there would be no admiration Boris Johnson has changed his tune a bit since he became Foreign Secretary There is a lot...

Earlier in the week the Russians came up with another cock and bull story to explain this one away - obviously in preparation for this - rather ironically condemning themselves, as it flatly contradicted the earlier cock and bull story they had manufactured (!)
"They said the missile launcher was brought into Ukraine from Russia."
That's the killer blow (so to speak) really.
It will be interesting to see what happens and how high the list of 100 suspects goes. In cases like this the real culprits usually get off while stooges get done instead (like the Lockerbie bombing quite probably)
In this case they have names though
There's a bit of a list now:
MH-17
State sponsored drug abuse
Probable state-sponsored hacking of US political parties and WADA
Slaughter of children in Aleppo using illegal weaponry
And the above is pretty selective ...

It came from Russia, i.e. they made it. There is nothing in the story to say how the missile itself got into the Ukraine, only the missile launcher. I cant see anywhere where it shows who actually fired it either.
At present it is the prosecutions evidence, we still need to see the evidence from the defence (they claim to have some). Until then we can all have our suspicions.
Unfortunately in war very bad things happen and cannot always be proved one way or another.
As for the various people that have 'admired' Putin the admiration is usualy taken out of context.

Boris Johnson has changed his tune a bit since he became Foreign Secretary
There is a lot of info on how the launcher came into Russia, and indeed from where it was fired. There was only one route from Russia to the point of firing, and only one side who could have fired it once it was there.
Even if the missile came from Ukraine (which it plainly did not) I don't see how that absolves them from firing it (!)
There is piles of other damning evidence (the phone transcripts, (remember those?) where they admit firing it, and the hastily removed Twitter feed.. The only question is how much of it is admissible.
As for "the defence" well as I said above, we had that earlier in the week from Rubbish Today and other sources

Note from that:
"This contradicts the scenario maintained by Kiev, under which a Buk missile could have been fired from the rebel-controlled village of Snezhnoye. "
Except it is not "Kiev" that maintains that but everyone who has investigated this to date who is not desperately involved in a cover-up :-)
In fact it actually contradicts their earlier nonsense about "evidence" they had that a Ukrainian fighter plane had been in the area and that the airliner had mysteriously changed directed etc etc

/// AOG Read the link! This investigation is to prepare the evidence to be presented to a criminal trial which will be held at the international court. ///
I read the link, I was just commenting on the fact that no side can be proven guilty until it has been taken to a court of law, until then nothing is proven.

Their best stab at a "defence" would be to own up to the bits that they really can't cover up: ie admit that it was one of their launchers but that it was there for "defence" purposes and these daft locals got hold of it, didn't know how to use it, and tut tut what do you know the idiots fired the bloody thing at the wrong plane.
But to do that would be to admit that all the other stuff they've said to date is also a lie. And will anyone really be brought to court anyway?

From mikey's BBC link:
"An inquiry by the Dutch Safety Board last year found that a Russian-made Buk missile hit the plane but did not say where it was fired from."
Actually, they did - unofficially. The chap who made the presentation actually said where it came from when speaking to the press conference.

An operator of what though, ymb :-)
One loves ones country by ordering murders?
I am not a fan of Nigel Farage as you know, but he is probably fundamentallyl a decent human being, and that is why I would hope that after a few beers I would get him to agree that their is really very little room for praise there, even as an "operator"

It was fairy obvious this was a mistake. Recordings of the separatists had them initially rejoicing because they thought they had downed a Ukrainian Transport Plane. It was not a deliberate act of terrorism against innocent Dutch nationals, it was an error.
The wisdom of flying civilian jets over a war zone, to save a bit of fuel is also questionable.
