More to the point why would he even want to be an advisor to HM? I'd have thought is pro IRA credentials would have made him rule himself out. Must be a socialist.

Although perhaps it is the only way to actually make these idiots realise what running the country and keeping it safe from aggression actually takes.
Ok chaps, the (insert name of aggressor here) are arming their nukes and are about to blow us to kingdoms come. We can 1. Do nothing and hope they forget the launch codes. 2. Ask them nicely if they very much mind not blowing us up. 3. Ask them over for a chat about it a week next Thursday. 4. Tell them we know what they are up to, are on alert and will retaliate like for like. Oh and by the way our dear leader has said he will not use option 4.

The full title of the Privy Council is "Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council" and - if you read the last two lines of your own link-material, TTT, you'll note that they read:
"The Queen has been pleased to approve that John McDonnell MP be sworn (in as a member) of Her Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council."
I suspect the words I have inserted in brackets have been inadvertently omitted.
Given that HRH has shown herself to be satisfied with his membership, TTT, I think it ill behoves you to disapprove...and as for calling her 'stupid', JJ, ...well!

The sovereign is Head is State for all UK citizens, both those who like him or her to be so, and those who do not. It does not pay to be advised by one's approvers only since that can only really represent a portion of the total population, and may well have blind spots leading them to not consider some things that would constitute good advice.
I would not describe a Republican as an enemy, but think the phrase, "keep your friends close and your enemies closer", is not too inappropriate for a wise Head of State. For friends substitute sycophants, and for enemies substitute critics ?

So, TTT, just who are the "We" referred to in your question-title? You make a habit of being over-free with the use of what often turn out to be meaningless pronouns.
Did you mean "We, the British electorate" or "We, the members of AnswerBank" or what? It even occurred to me that, since your use of the word had a capital letter, "the royal we" might be what you intended!

I was looking to see if Jeffrey Archer was a Member, but came up blank.
I notice, however, that Jonathan Aitken ( him of the trust shield or truth ) was but resigned in 1997.
