What's Going On? - Free Speech, My *rs*
Julian Assange's internet accounts have just been closed down before he was due to release the promised revelations on Hillary Clinton.
The 'Russia Today' news channel has been blocked from UK audiences (so I have heard, can anyone confirm this please?).
And I cannot get the Aljazeera news channel at the moment here in Germany.

After administering to the er appetites of the hairy heroic defender of 'free speech' in his 'prison' at the Ecuadorean embassy, Ms Anderson expressed the hope that Mr Assange would soon be 'freed'.
And if you think that's weird, after Kremlin mouthpiece RT was served notice of the suspension of its accounts by RBS/Nat West, its editor in chief Margarita Simonyan tweeted здравствуйте свобода слова ('so much for free speech' effectively) thus proving irony not to be one of her few strongpoints.
Never fear, a quick check later revealed George Galloway still to be holding forth about something or other in the name of 'free speech', his famous black hat looking blacker and more ridiculous than ever.
RT is a tool of the Kremlin's war machine in Ukraine and elsewhere and therefore s legitimate target, although sadly I suspect this is not the start of the fightback by our brave government, but likely an internal bank matter.
One nonetheless lives in hope, but never fear, the liberal elite I suspect remains cowed in its bunker for now :-)
I seem to recall Julian Assange was due to 'reveal all' on the Antichrist Clinton the other week, but disappointed Pamela and his legion of followers by merely plugging his latest book or whatever. With nary a US secret agent or liberal elite clone trooper in sight :-)

ich; Zacs may give you full marks for your prose style, but I'm afraid the content is nonsense.
You think RT is a mouthpiece for the Kremlin, do you watch it? I think not. It sometimes gives a different point of view, one which perhaps you prefer not to see for some reason known to yourself.
Of the many excellent interviews with a wide variety of politicians, academics, and intellectuals, here is one from last evening with Oliver Stone asking for others to look for wider picture that that given by most western media; the BBC, CNN et al. He's certainly not a Kremlin mouthpiece.

I used to watch RT (they changed the name from "Russia Today" a few years, ago: interesting, don't you think?
I am not sure what planet you are on, khandro, if you don't think the station is a lie machine run by the Kremlin. They have been commended for their objectivity and fairness, mind you by ...
The BNP.
For too long they've taken advantage of our liberal views to broadcast their nonsense, and it is a disgrace that they are listed as a "news" channel" alongside reputable, indeed, outstanding international concerns such as France 24, and Al Jazeera.
Anyway, looks as though RBS may have backed down in the face of threats from Moscow. Very sad.

The remit of RT, of course, is not merely to push a "kremlin" line. After all, as I mentioned above, they have played down their "kremlinness" by changing their name. The intention seems to be as much to undermine confidence in respectable western media by sowing doubt and scepticism - therefore any oddball, embittered, conspiracy theorist gets a mouthpiece.
So the UK version is treated to people like George Galloway, Julian Assange et al. And they are two of the less weird ones,
The US in particular is an easy target for them, as much of their media IS pretty rotten too, although I am not sure it has quite gone tot he criminal lengths RT has.

I had an entry in my diary for yesterday, 17th, which read, "Assange to be questioned." This was based on a newpaper item from some weeks ago suggesting just that. He was to be questioned by an Ecuadorian official, whilst a Swedish lawyer listened, about his supposed "crimes" in Sweden.
When yesterday arrived, I looked around the news outlets I usually study, but none of them even mentioned it.
Did anyone else have an expectation such as I did, 'cos I certainly didn't just make it up?

Hillary Clinton is so 'desperate' right now that she seems to have given up completely. Wisely letting Michelle Obama do the moral majority stuff while the Fat One himself digs his own political grave a bit deeper
But Assange, RT and co and their loyal conspiracy theorising fans are much more fun for now :-)
