If you looked closely at the report, even the BBC could not cover up the fact that most of those people are healthy, fit, young men.
I you don’t mind me saying so, mm, you seem very easily upset. I first noted your “devastation” at the announcement of the death of Pete Burns. I’ve never heard of him. You must have known him very well for his death to have such an impact on you.

And now this. Your sadness is misplaced. These people (who, as has been mentioned, are predominantly – though not exclusively - fit young men) have been living, from choice, in appalling conditions, many of them for some time. They are where they are because they seek to enter the UK illegally by any means they can muster. Their presence has made much of the locality around Calais a virtual no-go area, has caused havoc with cross-channel transport and has devastated (in the true meaning of the word) many a small business there. The French have now, very belatedly, decided enough is enough and are bussing them to more suitable locations so that they can claim asylum in France or return whence they came. They are being done a favour and there is no need to feel sorry for them.
Busing them to elsewhere in France eh. I thought they were being shipped wholesale to here. Still nothing stopping them regrouping. Or even accepting EU citizenship and then popping over the Channel. I trust we'll at least have better welfare rules by then, but ideally we'll be curtailing non tourist/business "guests" by then.

Genuine refugees wouldn't have got as far as France in order to set up camps and eventually removed. Economic immigrants might, but must know that they wouldn't be welcome, so were chancing their arm and brought the issue upon themselves.
//I am so sad//

Why?
I suppose there was a sort of community spirit there and some will be sad a leaving and maybe having their hopes of a move to UK dashed (for now), and it must cause most uncertainty and upset for those with children, with whom we may sympathise (the children and maybe some adults who were sold a dream by traffickers). But many are resilient young chancers who will survive and may even thrive. Hopefully it will deter more from coming to Calais and living in similar awful conditions so in the long run you may feel better murraymints
a relative travels regularly to northern france and sees what are believed to be "jungle residents" on a regular basis. whilst the jungle is portrayed in the press as a pit of abject squalor, nearly all the young men (and they are mostly that) are smartly dressed in designer gear, and all have smartphones. if you were fleeing for your life, would your first thought be to ensure you looked as stylish as "the cat" from red dwarf while you were doing it?
Nothing to be sad about. As NJ has said they are being processed properly in a safe country. If they are genuine they will be helped, if not sent back.

Now the people of Calais will be able to move about without fear for their lives as will motorists and lorry drivers simply trying to earn a crust.

Your sadness is very misplaced I'm afraid.
"I am so sad"

What an odd thing to say.

Personally I feel neither sadness or delight - all the time they are not our problem I couldn't give a tinker's cuss about them.

They are are product of the Schengen Agreement and lax French Enforcement in Calais itself, trying to get to The UK to milk our Benefits System, no sympathy here.

I am so sad at the human loss..and if any of you had an ounce of compassion you would too
What human loss?
There simply isn't enough compassion to go round.

We are bombarded with images so I believe we start to turn our emotions off.

Naomi ..do you have chidren

A fair question from Naomi imo.
murraymints, why do you ask?
Why all this sympathy for them, as said before most of these are fit young men who come mainly from other countries apart from Syria.

On the TV news yesterday they were interviewing a young Afghani who was showing us the scar of his wounds inflicted by a Taliban bomb.

We should not feel sad for the likes of him, but who we should feel sad for are the number of our own young men some who came back from fighting for this young man's country, in wooden boxes and many who came back with missing limbs.

I say to this cowedly young man, "you should be back fighting for your own country's freedom, not invading ours".

Cowardly? Nice turn of phrase there AOG!! Care to tell us why he is a coward - I think most people in his shoes would run - I certainly would not call it cowardly but at least I could spell it correctly!!
Some people just do not have what it takes to be a fighter.

Why not?

Then that makes you just a much a coward as him.

Where would the likes of you be now if our young men had 'turned tail and run' thus abandoning their country, back in 1940?
