I'll offer my view on gromit's 9.26 comment: predictable and utterly misinformed/mischievous

" If I even begin to pick your latest post apart it'll just get too complicated and boring for everyone"

Please go ahead Ichkeria

The US are arming Turkey, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Islamic State gets its weapons by an unbelievable coincidence, from those same countries. Odd that.
For 2011-15 the US did not target IS in Syria, they concentrated on Assad. When Assad forces retreated from Aleppo, Islamic State were allowed to move in.
A load of insignificant Nato / EU bluster, they have no need to 'refuel', they simply want to 'top up', which is normal procedure, there's plenty of fuel on board and they can do it elsewhere, Egypt perhaps?
^ or Syria, or by Russian Oil tanker, but the useless idiots are still manipulated !
Khandro,
The Russians are headed to Syria, so they are more likely to refuel at their naval base at Tartus on the Syrian coast.
Breaking News...

// A group of warships including Russia's only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, is reportedly refuelling at sea off North Africa en route to Syria. //
Putin / Russia, is making a mockery of the West yet again. Truth always wins
Yes, no problem. Sorry mikey, but your gleeful hope that the Russian fleet would be somehow be embarrassed and stranded in the Med. is never going to happen. These guys aren't joy riders.

that's a bit harsh and why folk dis-own News (see AoG's thread last night)....they have their own tankers in the fleet, but they may want to profit from 3rd party suppliers for so-called influence......Murmansk to Syria isn't that far for such vessels as to bunkering.

They have their own tankers with them, as I posted some while ago

IS were not the issue for a long time. They were of course, born in Iraq, but significantly, thousands of FSA fighters probably joined their ranks around 2014, and I wonder how many had been radicalised or embittered, in fact, by a LACK of support against Assad from the US. There were western journalists covering the war prior to that who were warning that many of the people they were fighting with were becoming increasingly desperate, and frustrated, at being ignored, as they saw it, by the US and allies. So in fact material support for the resistance to Assad has actually come far too late.
Putin has one great advantage in Syria: he is untroubled by conscience, and his aim is very simple. But at the moment I don't see anyone actually winning in Syria.

(DTC: I can recognise a troll when I see one:-) )
I did realise you are blinkered but the statement
"at the moment I don't see anyone actually winning in Syria"
just confirms that. The Russians are winning. In fact they have almost won. They are regaining most of the territory the Government lost, and have Islamic State beat.
The flotilla of ships heading to Syria is not for show. It is for the final push.
As I said much earlier, the cranking up of anti Russian propaganda is because the West knows that Russia has won in Syria.
The interesting thing about that flotilla is that there has been little sign of any training going on, which is odd as it must be a little out of practice. A Med cruise with vodka I guess is a nice change from the Arctic Ocean
I don't know about anyone else, it personally I am not interested in propaganda. I'm just telling it as I see it, and what I see in Syria is mayhem pure and simple. As I said before if Russia USC targeting an E Med Dino state that is no doubt achievable, but it's not what Assad wants. He is in any case now an international outcast.
What I'd have thought everyone wants is an end to the fighting because its hard to see how there can be a military solution for the whole of Syria.
It sure what a Dino state is: 'Rump' state was what was meant!
Maybe they'll lob the empty vodka bottles as their 'final push' against IS lol :-)
