Naomi - on reflection, I think you are correct in your summary, and I certainly meant no disrespect to any Asperger's sufferers by my viewpoint.

As far as the producers thinking that Mr Barrymore's sledgehammer humour would be seen as amusing, you could well be right, but I bet he wouldn't get away with it now!

In truth it is all in the hands of any TV company prepared to take a chance on him bringing them some viewers and revenue.

It is mamya - which leads me to the same conclusion as others on this thread - that Barrymore was of his time, and his time has gone.

That sort of 'light entertainment' no longer finds a mainstream audience, so his TV career is probably unsalvageable.

That is not to say that he may not remain a theatre and cabaret draw - we shall have to see.

Barrymore could still host a game show, such as Family Fortunes and Mr & Mrs etc.

He could also host chat shows better than the present chat show hosts.

AOG - I seriously doubt Mr Barrymore's ability to host a chat show.

Hosting a chat show looks deceptively simple, which is why they people who do it are paid so handsomely - it is precisely anything but.

I also think that his galaxy-sized ego is unlikely to have been diminished by the prospect of being vindicated of issues with the police - and that presents itself in his prickly self-absorbed TV persona which was, as divebuddy advised, on its way out when he fell from grace.

I cannot see a major clamouring for Mr Barrymore's return to mainstream television. He was already exhibiting the well known 'monkey' scenario - the higher he climbed, the more of his unpleasant bits were being seen.
