Polish driver gets 10 years for the death of 3 children on the Newbury Bypass, this driver was using his Mobile to upload Music, does this not tell the stupid Gov that an Instant ban of 1 year, a £1000 fine, when will they listen.

The problem is people don't expect to get caught. They are usually only caught after a tragedy like this results from their use of a phone. I would like to see a real purge though- police could easily catch thousands on a few key routes in a short period

That would not work Tilly, example, you may not like a person, you might have a Grudge against a person, but I agree with you.

That would be fine if the police were out and about and therefore able to catch them and also if there were sufficient numbers of said police people so that they could be out and about. As it is there is rarely anyone about to catch them. I once saw a driver navigating a rather tight uphill bend whilst talking on the phone and shaving...... I was left standing on the pavement stunned....

This HGV drivers firm or any haulage firm should have the rule NO MOBILE USE when driving otherwise you finish, this clown had one second before he HIT, how many people are there going to be killed before something is done.

i totally agree with you the law needs to get tougher,i was sickened by it all and the man lived on the next close to me.he has a couple of polish friends who also live nearby who both have vans with no tax or mot on them.they dont think the law applies to them.very sad story and my heart goes out to the family.

I'm not sure how one can be certain a van is untaxed and has no MOT, but if you are sure then tell the police and DVLC. here are lots of number plate recognition cameras about the van would soon get picked up, queen
