Diversity, Don't You Love It!
24 Answers
Cast of Hamilton address vice-president elect Pence.
Spokesman for the cast said:
"We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,"
If "we" and "diverse" means a cross-section of all America then wouldn't you expect that half the cast would have voted FOR Trump. But if all the cast had voted against Trump then the cast is neither representative or diverse.
Naturally there is a flaw in my logic (blame it on the boogie).
Need help here. Over to the logicians.

Why shouldn't the cast of this very successful musical show their concern ?
Pence and Trump need to realised that not everybody voted for them....this was no Republican landslide. The next time they consider making a sexist, or racist, or homophobic move, perhaps that night at the theatre will come back to haunt them.

Why has this "not everybody voted for him/it" been continually trotted out over the past few months. I doubt there's been an election or referendum in history where everybody has voted the same way (with the possible exception of places like North Korea. I don't know if they have elections but if they did I imagine there would be only one candidate).
The principle of elections and referendums is that the majority vote (under whatever rules are laid down) prevails. Some people will be disappointed with the result and often they will be a sizeable minority or even the majority, depending on the format of the election and the prevailing rules.
Why these Thespians decided to publicly voice their anxiety because their audience contained somebody of whom they did not approve is a little unclear. They should have been more professional and simply got on with their job because that's what they will have to do for the next four years at least.

There's nothing new about the reminder that not everyone voted for x,y or z
Indeed, what I have tended to fear more or recently especially here is 'if only there was a system where votes were more proportionally recognised
As for diversity, I'm all for it. Who wants the same thug day after day after...

I am sure mr Pence will get over it :-)
Don't you understand that after the last few months feelings are running quite high? Mr Trump set the tone and while many most notably the president have been quick to mend fences the aftershock is going to take a while to settle.
And that is assuming the fears about Bannon, Flynn, Pompeo et al not to mention Trump himself prove unfounded
