One of the reasons we voted brexit is because of thes free movement fiasco so we ain't going to give in on that just for access to the "free" market.

Then there is this from your link:
“Mr Muscat also reiterated the view that even when a final or interim deal is struck between EU leaders and Britain, the European Parliament may decide to veto it in 2019”.
We should have invoked Article 50 the day the result was announced, instead of pandering to all this scaremongering nonsense and trying to pacify the EU.

It is indeed pointless if we allow free movement, but I can’t help thinking any ‘deal’ will be so watered down, that free movement will continue.
I foresee that the longer court cases and negotiations drag on, the ‘deal’ we will get will be about as worthless as the one Mr. Cameron presented us with pre-vote.

Woofgang , The President of Malta is also President Elect of the EU, he speaks in that capacity.
Bigbad, had Teresa May invoked A50 on the 24th June in the manner she intended , ie without consultation with Parliament , it would have been ruled unlawful and revoked by the Law Lords just as the proposal has been now. At least this way A50 can be implemented once consultation has taken place. If it had been revoked there is a chance it could not have been reinstated. In short, doing as you ask would possibly have the effect of delaying 'Brexit' for many years or even for ever!

I would have liked the opportunity to see that theory tested, EDDIE, but too late now.
And lets face it, we were told often enough that the will of the people would be upheld, but not that it was subject to consultation with Parliament or the rule of law.
I do believe that Brexit will eventually happen, but it will be so watered down, that it will be worthless.

As I have pointed out previously, it was incumbent upon those voting to make themselves familiar with the potential complexities, not for politicians to spoon feed us (like they would do that anyway!).
I am in no way claiming I saw the specifics we are involved in at the moment but it was abundantly clear that it wouldn't be a simple process.

Bigbad the problem was that the proposed change in law 'Brexit' would have affected a fundamental right of UK citizens.
At present all UK citizens have the right to live , work and travel anywhere in the EU without any form of permission, visa or restriction. That right would have been ended by Brexit.
ANY law (NOT just Brexit) that affects the basic rights of the UK and it's citizens MUST be debated and agreed by parliment , Theresa May was trying to implement such a law with no consultation at all!! She has been told quite correctly that it can not be done !.

I think the reality is that people expect to be informed about issues from 'experts' in a particular field. If I have a medical problem, I would expect sound advice from a doctor, legal advice, from a solicitor etc etc.
The problem in the referendum debate was that the so called experts, our politicians, did not know many of the answers and made fatuous claims (on both sides) that led to meltdown in thousands of voter's minds leaving them in a vacuum or a no mans land.
Part of the onus was on the voter to fact find, read literature etc but the complexity of the debate was focused too narrowly in many people's minds i.e immigration or sovereignty were the only considerations because these were the issues that only mattered.
Degrees of fault lies across the board but ultimately the voter was responsible for their decision.

Baldric, Joseph Muscat is President of Malta and in January as you say Malta will take it's turn at the Presidency of the EU and Joseph muscat will be president. At the moment he is President of Malta and President Elect of the EU. He assumes the EU presidency in January just as Trump is President Elect of the USA and assumes the Presidency of the USA in January.
