The plot thickens. It now looks as if Chelsea bribed a former player, not to say anything about his abuse !

Bloody disgraceful.

When this type of discussion comes up, I am always astounded at the compete inability of some posters to stop looking at things from behind their keyboard, and take just a few seconds to think about it from the victim's perspective. This was a young man whose dream was to be a footballer, and he had already entered the dog-eat-dog environment where the favour of...

Bah!

...'at men'..... that should have said.
Are any women being accused in this recent scandal?
ummmm

/// So you're saying Jack has a hatred of males because she's gay? ///

Did I say anything about her being gay?

On her avatar she has announced to all that she prefers girls, and in her post she went out of her way to point out 'MEN' she even separated the word from 'SOME' by placing it in brackets.

So this was a deliberate ploy on her part to accuse men and not equally women.

To say nothing of her veiled accusation.

// It sort of makes you wonder why some (men) are quite so determined to excuse or downplay the actions of these abusers, doesn't it? ///
AOG - // Misandry, a hatred of males.

Look it up, why don't you? //

I have looked it up - it's your grammar that is wrong, not the term used.
It's not veiled, AOG, it's a proper question.

I do wonder why some men are keen to downplay these accusations and shift the blame to the victims....
Like I said...have any women been accused in this case?

'some' men acknowledges the fact that not 'all' men are abuses and shouldn't be judged on the actions of others. I'm sure you knew that though.
/// Sometimes it is difficult to detect and can make the poster of such nonsense look more like a paedophile-apologist.... ///

A paedophile-apologist now am I? Wow and I am accused of disgusting posts.

After that stand by jack you are now open for all kind of insults could be coming your way.

Let your merry band of supporters moan about them them.
Oh well, it would have been nice to know if anyone had an opinion on my post @ 15.16. Never mind, another day perhaps:-(
AOG..I really think you should take some time out before ED pushed the button...I agree with everything Andy said..child abuse is far more complex than just saying no..these were children eager to please and succeed they were taken advantage of the most heinous ways possible..there is NO defence..even if one did take hush money..the crime was STILL committed... and insults and sweeping suppositions regarding Jack's status whatever that may be is way below the belt ..
Stop behaving like a stroppy toddler AOG.

Your responses have been abhorrent and shown you in a very dark light.

Grow up!
ladybirder..I think I kind of alluded to that above !!
LadyB...I agree with you 100%
I know that the usual retort is...."If the cap fits....." but I'm above saying that.

You, AOG, seem to have taken my posts personally; why is that?
the lack of compassion and understanding that has been shown by some on this page is incredible

this sort of behaviour empowers the peadophiles and abusers - they know that they can shame their victims into silence, into accepting cash for silence, in part because of the attitudes that are being demonstrated on these pages -
As Mccfluffy mentions, the abusers do shame their victims into silence, they can't say anything because they feel ashamed, perhaps dirty, let down, possibly suicidal, and frightened so much on how they would explain what happened, that they just try to block it out. That is all they can do, as they can't understand why them! They deserve compassion, understanding and help when they tell their story....and not ignorance or any sort of blame for what they did...... they did NOTHING wrong....

Whilst at high school, so I was about 14, we had a sports teacher who was trying it on with a couple boys in our class....like undressing WITH us in the changing rooms after football, as he was usually a referee or linesmen..massaging his bits in front of some boys, which was unnerving and frightening....some of us knew what he up too and we decided to report him to the Head of P.E, who was such a nice man, lived and breathed Sport, and been at the school for over 30 years..... he took it to the Headmaster......then all we know is that there had been allegations before and he managed to dodge them, but he had just started to groom a quieter lad in our team, but luckily only discussed meeting him outside school....he was sacked and never taught again..... not sure if arrested, know that the police were involved.... we were just glad never to see him again.

Football sex abuse: Southampton contact police inquiry

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38185414

"On Thursday, SEVERAL former Southampton players alleged they had suffered years of sexual abuse by a former employee"......(my capitals)

Flipping heck....several, in one Club, and nobody in the Management knew it was going on ?

Beggars belief.
Question Author
Yogi....good post at 17:20.
"
They deserve compassion, understanding and help when they tell their story....and not ignorance or any sort of blame for what they did...... they did NOTHING wrong"

....too bloody right !
beggars belief .... hur hur hur good one

however in this case, this person decided to accept a large sum of money not to talk about it took the money but didn't keep up his end of the bargain. bn

I had noticed that - and the possibility of the club claiming back their monnay as he hadnt kept the bargain ..... BUT

a) I wondered if the DM hadnt indemnified him - "kiss and tell and if they claw the money back we will reimburse" - a corrupt contract not enforceable but what the hell - the DM is no stranger to these agreements
b) a rich DM QC had said the term in the contract was unenforceable either in the public interest or as a result of the unfair contract terms act 1977

[well it made a change - thnking about it to reading some of the awful tripe in this thread]

and in fact the Club had agreed to waive that clause
[ doubltess because of 'reputational risk' ]

these clauses dear readers were common in out of court settlements in those days - and it wasnt a "gagging order" as it didnt go in front of a judge. The punter ( ex footballer and not mastermind contestant] might have thought it was
Now here's my problem with both AOG and mikey.

When we had the Rotherham and such child sex abuse threads AOG would speak out against the lack of protection the children received and the subsequent lack of attention from the media gave the scandal. mikey on the other hand would be conspicuous by his absence on these threads, he seemed to have 'meh' type attitude.

Here with this particular case of child sex abuse we seem to have a reversal of 'meh-ness' mikey speaking out and AOG ... well I have to echo an earlier post by jth

''Sometimes it is difficult to detect and can make the poster of such nonsense look more like a paedophile-apologist....''

Why the inconsistencies from these posters on the subject of child sex abuse?

Question Author
Talbot...you constantly mis-quote me.

I am on record as condemning the sexual abuse of girls in Rotherham. I did, however, dispute that because some Asian men abused girls, not all Asian men were guilty.

Its exactly the same situation with the current problems within football. No one is suggesting that all footballers were abuse, or that all coaches were guilty of abusing boys.

Its disappointing that I have to remind a few people on here about this.
