Some would say "That's too good for them ... " but that's not how a civilised society operates.
Everyone deserves a shot a redemption - and these two have stated that they fully intend to take theirs.
It does not for a minute excuse what they did - but breaking the law to 'punish' people who have broken the law satisfies only the revenge element, it is not justice, and it is not how a civilised society keeps its civilisation. That way lies the end of the world.

Well it is stated in the article - would you rather some of our fine upstanding citizens took the law into their own hands vigilante style and got imprisoned too?
Would you rather these youths never tried to better themselves or potentially become useful to society but rather have to run and hide from
those who seek to wreak revenge and turn to yet more crime to fund their secret lives?
What they did sickens me to the core but I cannot see that naming them would benefit anyone particularly.

TTT - we have cross-posted, but you can see that my view is completely the opposite of yours.
I do understand the emotion behind your post, but consider this - when the 'vermin' have been tracked down and eliminated, what will the 'trackers' do then, with their sense of power and what they perceive to be 'justice'?
Do you think such people will just switch off and go back to being peaceful members of society?
They would become marauding gangs doling out summary justice as and when they saw fit, and when there are no 'obvious' criminals left, what happens then?
Of course, that scenario does not allow for the mistakes they make - the people who don't know the difference between a paedophile and a paediatrician ... it simply can't happen.
So it doesn't - and that is why anonymity is given in these cases.
