I should be surprised but I'm not. Standards aren't what they used to be, sadly.
I was recently asked to be one of the interviews for applicants for posts similar to mine. I was berated by some colleagues for showing my dismay at one candidate who wrote: I have good verble communication (my thoughts were that's good, you'll need it with spelling like that) and another ended their resume with 'Thanx'.
They may as well have jotted 'wud u consida me 4 dis post?'

I despair.
