Just taking one of your examples of industrial strife, Gulliver (the Southern Trains dispute) perhaps you could explain precisely how the government should become involved.
There is a private company running trains. They want to introduce a new system which operates perfectly well on more than a third of the rail network in the UK. The independent railway safety inspectorate has stated that there are no safety issues with the proposal (the reason cited by the RMT and ASLEF for the disagreement). Yet still the dispute goes on. The drivers (on £50k basic) are being led by a Union with an avowed intention to bring down the democratically elected government. So what should the government do? Step in and tell Southern Trains they cannot implement their plan? Tell the RMT not to be so silly? Or simply resign and call a general election (not an easy option in view of the Fixed Term Parliament Act).
Before you set off on your soapbox, just have a little think.
