I'm trying hard to have an opinion on this, but can't find one.
I'd like to think that the NATO leader had some sort of military experience, or at least a record of appreciation of the necessity of a defence force. Scrapping our aircraft carriers without a replacement being available doesn't fill me with confidence about Dave's understanding of defence or the potential dangers around.
No he shouldn't.He went down further in my estimation when he lost the Brexit vote and walked off and left others to pick up the pieces.

What sort of attitude is that? Nobody in a position of authority should do that.
Good start, vortex.
Thanks Jourdain2.

I thought he handled the Brexit business very badly indeed.Who could really trust him? As for 'charm' and 'ability',I'm sorry but I don't get it.
Completely agree with vortex actually.
//The ex-PM was mooted as Nato secretary-general over the Christmas period.//

By whom?

//an obviously planted story appeared in a tabloid newspaper.....was duly taken up by the wider media, with heavy hints suggesting that Number 10 was actively considering the proposal//

Righto. Pass the salt.

No way, completely the wrong man for the job imo.
Ah! Thanks for that, Naomi.
Copied from the link TTT gave, Jourdain.
Sorry. skimmed link and missed it. A trying time and I'm a bit tired. :)
Secretary generals are traditionally is European and military commanders in Europe American.
This seems like a rather pointless comment on a most unlikely scenario mentioned and discussed some weeks ago as a result of some tabloid article
Only if Nick Clegg gets the deputy job.
^That's a thought. He's popping up everywhere else lately.
Cameron was a poor leader of the Opposition and a terrible Prime Minister. In terms of long range strategy, he was totally outwitted by his own party which is why he was out on his ear after losing the referendum vote.
In terms of his record in military matters, the idea of him leading NATO is laughable. He prevaricated about renewing Trident, he cut the defence budget and he took us into the Syrian mess when all the evidence was that was the last thing we should have done.
So no. Definitely unqualified and beyond his ability.
Why not ?
Gromit....such a poor Leader and such a poor PM, and yet so many people voted for him....twice !
