Martin Mcguinness: Ex-Deputy First Minster Will Not Stand In Ni Election

I am somewhat unwilling to enter the bear-garden that is NI politics, so I am posting this to make the point that McGuinness really doesn't look well at all.

When he was on the news earlier this week, I thought he looked pretty dreadful.

Based on your comments you were either a supporter of him, or you are unaware of what he has done.

If you are unaware, then I suggest you do some research.

If you are aware of his past, but are not a supporter, then your comments are extremely naïve.

This evil murdering terrorist deserves all the hatred thrown at him for the things he's done in his "interesting" life.

I was slightly surprised. Of course in one sense not, as McGuinness became a friend of the family, but I've never heard comments like that in public from anyone in the DUP. There's no doubt that personal chemistry IS a factor in these things. Things have been particularly difficult since Arlene Foster became First Minister. Maybe Paisley and Murray ...

the article said that the body had been found later and I thought 'oops'

the body (Mrs McConville's) was in a beach and so when the men who had had interesting long lives but ended hers, pointed to the place it had sortta changed thro sand erosion, it was found to be wrong
Later the body was exposed by further storms and found by a dog walker

In defence, the same old lies were kept up - McConville had tended an injured soldier ( altho another republican admitted that that was probably HIS sister that had done it ) and that she was an informer for the British

Scappaticci's interrogation techniques were so brutal on behalf of Irish freedom fighters who had led interesting lives that in the end ( as we know ) the victim confesses to anything just to make it stop, even tho the admission will lead to them being shot ( later ) .

[ in 1695 yup 1695 the salem witches write to their families jointly " we know we must die ..." - but hold it - why did they know they had to die when they also knew they werent witches and so hadnt 'done it' or anything ? If you torture someone they will confess to anything so a lot of the rumpus-room confessions were false - which the freedom fighters who led interesting lives havent exactly faced up to ]

Will NI be more interesting without him ?

NI 'might' have been a better place on 1971 if Martin McGuinness had not been around then. Or it might not. While naturally the things he did and ordered to be done were murderous (if Dennis Bradley is to be believed he saved lives where he could too) it's not as if here was one criminal mastermind who changed the course of history. If not him then it would probably have been someone else. Later though he DID help if not change history then at least help it on the right course. And ironically it doubtless needed someone with his credibility with his own people to help it happen.
