Trident Doesn't Work.
A test firing of the UKs defense missile system in June was a failure. Apparently due to a cock-up with Google Maps, instead of targetting Russia, it actually hit Rusholme. There were no reports of any damage.
Interestingly, the misfire was hushed up and was not known to the majority of MPs who voted to renew it in July.
The Prime Minister refuses to say whether she knew of the apparent malfunction, when she voted. Asked several times, Mrs May refused to answer.
Should this information have been made known to MPs before they voted?
Would the result have been different if the truth was known?

The target was off the coast of west Africa NOT Russia. It turned towards the US coast instead . The system DOES NOT use Google maps and it DID NOT hit anything as it was destroyed in flight by the controllers as soon as they saw it was off course. Apart from those small inaccuracies Gromit your report is correct.
I agree with TTT for once. Trident is useless in the world of the 21st century.
We should scrap it and use the cash saved to build our own aircraft carriers so that we do not have to rely on 'borrowing' one from France!
What's going to happen if Scotland has another referendum and votes to leave the UK ? Is Sturgeon going to allow the Trident fleet to continue to be based in Scotland , as she has made it plain that she is totally opposed to Trident?

EDDIE, if Ms Sturgeon says she's 'totally opposed' to something or indeed '100% for' another, check she doesn't have her fingers crossed behind her back.
Like any politician she blows with the wind and will have a load of old tripe ready to justify any given event.

It's good fun to watch politicians squirm, but obviously any answer she gave would have opened her up to attack. Yes and she'd be pilloried for not volunteering that information to the House, no and she would do for not knowing when she should.
I don't believe that the result would have been different had she done the right thing, but she opted not to take the risk. The one failure would not have proven the weapon wasn't worth having. Deciding if that is so is a much bigger discussion.

In this case my reaction is that May did not know about it. If she had known all she had to do was say '' Yes I knew, but it is classified so I couldn't mention it'' Refusing to say if she knew or not looks like she did not know but can't admit it .
She is looking more and more like someone who has been promoted above their level of competence and is out of their depth!
