Then they need to read the wording of Mr Trump’s order (as I have) and not just make a speculative guess at its provisions. It makes no mention of “persons born in…” but only of foreign nationals.

How many countries are difficult to visit on a UK or US passport? However, it makes little difference. People with dual nationality may sometimes encounter difficulties as this issue demonstrates. It’s called taking the rough with the smooth. The choice is theirs.

The BBC link states Mo Farah does not have dual nationality. A very curious comment that he should not live abroad because he's been knighted. Plenty of our knighted actor friends live in another country. Other athletes, for example, Paula Radcliffe, chose to live abroad at the height of her career. If the training opportunities are better, it seems a very sensible move.

NJ I've only skipped through it but it seems to make sense, - that is if the US is not to allow what we are allowing to take place here in Europe.
I've said elsewhere that Trump is a New Yorker and has witnessed 3,000 of his fellow citizens murdered in one day in the name of Islam.

The executive order states 'hailing from'. That means that Mo Farah would be subject to the ban.

This part is interesting:

Odd then, that Saudi Arabia isn't on the list, as 15 of the 19 terrorists involved in that attack were from Saudi Arabia, with the others were from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Lebanon (none of whom are on the list either).

sp1814 Saudi Arabia is not going to be on the list when SaudiAramco a company jointly owned between the Saudi State and the USA employs several thousand US citizens on its sites in Saudi Arabia and produces a large % of the world's crude oil . Not a good idea to annoy a country that has 75% of the entire world's proven oil reserves and is home to thousands of your own citizens!!
I lived and worked for Aramco in Dhahran for 3 years, us 'Brits' were outnumbered over 200 to 1 by the Yanks.

However, Trump, promised a total and complete shutdown on Muslims entering the United States on the Presidential campaign trail. That is not what he's now delivered.

He's delivered a total shutdown on Muslims from countries where Trump has business interests.

It may be a coincidence, or it may not.

Where exactly, sp? I’ve read it through. I’ve run it through Word and done a search for the term “hailing from” (and similar). Do me a favour. Please do the same (with the actual text to which I’ve provided a link, that is, not some journalist’s liberal interpretation of it) and let me know what I’ve missed. There are numerous references to "foreign nationals" but none that I can find referring to people "hailing from".

Even the opponents of what is happening concede that all we are talking about is only a handful of people actually being detained at this moment. Hundreds were delayed but have now been given access.

I think the "hailing from" was on the CNN website report and not in the actual Order.

Don't put words that I have never said.

Where have I said that he should 'not' live abroad because he's been knighted?

If you read what I said then you will see that I put "One then has to ask, as a British citizen, why have you along with your family decided to live in America, especially when you were honoured with a knighthood"?

A whole lot of difference querying why he chose to live abroad than saying that he should not live abroad.

I'm sure there are political reasons for this (see Eddie) but you can bet that all Saudis attempting to enter the US, will undergo very intense scrutiny, as I think they have anyway since 9/11.
