Glowworm Micron Boiler
1 Answers
Hi,
We switched the boiler on Tuesday morning but it didn't fire up. I reset the boiler and it came on, but we were getting a lot of white smoke out of the vent on our back wall. The boiler worked ok for the whole of Tuesday and we had no further problems. The boiler was switched on but didn't come on and tripped the circuit breaker, which meant we had no power to all of our downstairs sockets. An electrician came in and got all the sockets back on ( I was at work at this time), and said a plumber would be in later to look at the boiler. The plumber turned up this afternoon and told us the problem had been caused by rain water coming through the vent and getting inside the boiler, which had caused the control panel inside to become sodden which had tripped the circuit breaker....There is also other damage inside the boiler, so we are looking at quite a few hundred pounds to repair it! The plumber left and told us that he would send his report to the insurance company, so they would decide what happens next! I have never come across rain water getting inside a boiler this before myself, so just wondered if anybody had experienced this problem with their own boiler?

I guess it's possible, Zubar, but I can't say I've ever come across it. I think I would want to make sure that it's not an internal leak in the boiler itself. I had this on my own boiler once. A plastic casting had a tiny split in the seam. This sprayed all over the circuit board.
