Clearly Bercow's recent outbursts have proved he is incompetent.

Why would we need another Speaker ?

Because he voted to remain, like most of the Commons, and almost every political Party represented ?

I rather like the idea of a Speaker with cojonies.
Who would be your choice as a replacement?
Question Author
the speaker is supposed to keep his own views to himself and remain impartial even gorballs mick grasped that.
Are you asking me Corby ?

Not sure. His Deputy that was standing in for him the other day, during the A50 vote didn't impress me at all......he appeared to be losing his temper right from the start.

But its not our choice, and anyway, there isn't a vacancy at present, nor does it look as if there will be one any time soon.
Well,it looks like Bercow won the 'Commonsense' vote,and now they will 'Spirit'Trump in and out the UK,over a weekend.
No MIKEY, that was for TTT.
Question Author
I don't really care TCL as long as they are competent.
Thanks Corby !

TTT is becoming confused here, as he appears not to realise that Bercow is a Tory, in a Tory seat.

You just don't know where you are with the Tory Party these days, do you ?
As you say that MPs should represent the opinions of those who elected them, should the Speaker not represent the opinions of those who elected HIM?
No Corby....that wouldn't work at all !

The main problem about Bercow seems to be his somewhat acerbic nature, when in the Chair. But I am sure if he wasn't so strict with Tory MPs, we wouldn't be hearing a peep out of his detractors.
Question Author
I am aware that Bercow is a tory. The speaker is a special case that is why his seat is unopposed. His constituents accept that they are not represented as for a normal MP though having the speaker as an MP does have its benefits. Yes I am a tory but I do not blindly follow without question, is that what Labour supporters do mikey?
He is defending the views of MPs who are opposed to Trump being given the honour of addressing Parliament and he maybe sees it as a debasing of that honour to allow it to go through with no comment.
TTT....The Speakers seat is far from unopposed !

In 2010 and 2015, his seat was very much opposed. In 2010, that well known democrat, Nigel Farage gained 8410 votes and even the fascist BNP managed 980 :::

Facts can be terribly inconvenient at times.
Question Author
I mean the main opposition do not oppose it mikey. No limp dums or laybore
TTT....post what you mean then !
UKIP stood against him in 2015 and they still come second even without the other main parties...
"incompetent" = "disagrees with TTT".

"Impartial" = "agrees with TTT".
/// You just don't know where you are with the Tory Party these days, do you ? ///

One certainly knows where one is with the Labour Party these days:

They are on their way out!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand the concept of impartial when it comes to parliamentary voting. Surely you can't just abstain all the time? And that would be the same for everyone?
Bednobs....A far as I am aware, the Speaker doesn't abstain....he just doesn't vote !

But I may be wrong on that.
