I think most people have accepted it but that 'never' means they have to like it!!!
hereIam - Awards ceremonies have been used for social and political comment for as long as they have been going.

Remember when Marlon Brando refused to accept his Academy Award in person and sent a Native American in his place (she was an actress, but you get the point) to make a point about poor treatment of the indigenous population?

I think everyone accepts that President Trump is the President, but accepting it is not the same as liking it, and certainly not the same as shutting up and accepting it when the chance to put forward your view to an audience of billions around the world.
//he belongs to a protective species. //

Now that is a ridiculous statement, if I even knew what it meant.

I've just listened to 'We the people' by Tribe called Quest, and though the language is too ripe to share here it is indicative of the strength of feeling present right now.

Whether I agree with it or not is irrelevant.
The BAFTAS got a bit political too, it's the way it is and has been for a while.
AOG
Oh no, please don't discuss those none niceties, one knows he belongs to a protective species.

He's has an affiliation or is a member of/with Five-Percent Nation who believe the white man is the devil.
Whether he actually believes that I don't know.

As Michael Muhammad Knight explained in an essay for Vice, "The first lesson I learned from the Five Percent was simple: *** White people.

If you are going to side with AOG's somewhat contentious observation about Mr Rhymes' 'species' - which I did point out was the same as all of us - you need to correct what I am sure is a software spelling error - it is 'protected' species, not 'protective' - unless AOG is using that adjective correctly, in which case I'm afraid I have no idea what he is talking about!
Tough if they don't like it, their spouting off at such events isn't going to change anything!!!
You seem to be getting very riled with your 3 exclamation marks if it makes no difference, HIA.
I was answering ummm and copying her three exclamation marks. Hope that helps ...

All political intervention at these award ceremonies should be banned, and if that isn't possible then the media should not give these 'luvies' the publicity that they seek.
What exactly is a 'luvvie' please?
Totally agree aog.
What The Funicular are you going on about andy hughes?
It's a stereotypical term derogatory term ummmm. AOG likes to use this sort of tired cliche every time he runs out of intelligent things to say. Which is fairly frequently, you'll notice.
Only those running the shows could ban any attempts at political references and as it is inextricably linked with media it's unlikely to be ignored in the publicity stakes.

As Andy points out, this is not new and is well entrenched and ever growing.

hereIam

One always know when some are losing their argument, out come the spelling and punctuation corrections etc.

Although they are lacking in debating skills they try to compensate matters by making them feel somewhat superior in other ways.

Sad really, but what the hell.

I know aog, hope they don't think it bothers me !!! (oops three exclamation marks again) ...
You do know that the exclamation mark is on the red list of endangered species - please everyone, use sparingly.

And can I also add hereIam, it is not only spelling and punctuation corrections, that they will fall back on, they will also start off with their insults of one's intelligence, which of course speaks more about their lacking in intelligence, than it does of others.

No they are perfectly legitimate Mam, since they are black exclamation marks.
