Goldsmith is a Tory, and had the full backing of David Cameron, who as I recall was party leader. Their campaign was an embarrasment to both men; if it hadn't been for their anti-Muslim nonsense, he might well have won.

Talbot....there is no relation whatsoever in the way that Khan and Trump were elected.

For a start, there is no Electoral College operating in Britain, nor is there any need for one either.

Secondly, Khan got considerably more votes than Goldsmith, and by an even bigger margin than Clinton did in America.

The issue of the EC has been explained before.
