Nigel Farage 'has Dinner With Donald Trump'

Shouldn't Farage's constituents be asking him why he isn't in Brussels, looking after their interests, instead of gallivanting over in America ?

Mr Farage has spent the last 25 years working to extract the UK from the EU (and its predessors). Bar a major rebellion by our own elected (and unelected) politicians he has achieved that aim. He has, unsurprisingly, received no official thanks for his tireless work. History will record whether he deserves our gratitude or not. I know where my money lies.
But more important than that is Mikey’s fanciful notion that MEPs somehow look after the interests of their constituents. MEPs are not in Brussels (or, to satisfy French vanity, in Strasbourg 12 times a year) to represent their constituents. They are there to rubber stamp the proposals put forward by the European Commission and to portray a false impression that the institution is somehow democratic. This mistaken notion is especially true if the UK’s MEPs are examined because on virtually every occasion when they have opposed the Commission’s proposals (presumably in an attempt to represent their constituents’ interests) they have been outvoted. The European Parliament is not worthy of the name and Mr Farage (and all the others) can spend their time in far more beneficial ways. Such as helping old ladies to cross the road or having dinner with the President of the USA.
