Corbyn, the gift that just keeps on giving ;o)
He's only lulling you into a false sense of security, he has a cunning plan. :)
I know it will sound like making excuses, but there were just 4 council seats contested, and Labour was not expected to make any gains.

The lost a seat, which obviously wasn't good, but the ward has a large jewish population, and the sneaky Tories fielded a Rabbi.
"Luke Akehurst @lukeakehurst [says]

This is a direct result of failure to tackle antisemitism in Labour - ward with a large Jewish community. "

A good point, but Labour needs to tackle its embedded anti-Semitism whatever.
// Arnie Saunders [the winning Tory] said many Labour votes may have been lost to independent Johnny Wineberg over the contentious Salford City FC plan for a new 5,000-capacity stadium. //

The Conservatives got a 297 majority, while the independent candidate took 354 votes. Turnout was 24%.
“Turnout was 24%.”

Yes the Good Burghers of Salford really get down and dirty when they engage with local politics. I suppose the 24%who bothered to vote don’t get out too much and just fancied somebody to talk to at the polling station. A bit more fuel for CALC (my Campaign for the Abolition of Local Councils). Anyone is welcome to join. I am the founder and (so far) only member.

Come on NJ, where would all the Arthur Scargill wannabes and school drop outs be employed then?
"but the ward has a large jewish population, and the sneaky Tories fielded a Rabbi". Maybe they learnt that trick from Labour and Sadiq Khan.
