I am not saying that people were "thick" but they certainly seemed to lack the ability to assimilate facts that were patently clear to everybody.
If that is true, then America has got the President it deserves. They have made their bed, so now let them lie on it.

No that is correct. You never called the American people thick.
In the run up to the election you called the American people who supported Trump 'Stoopid' at every opportunity. Your'e spelling. Not mine.
You also consider any ABer who supports or votes UKIP an idiot.
Did I misquote or misinterpret what you wrote then?

“Excuse me, my President never says anything that’s stupid. That’s what’s wrong with you left people. You always want to be politically correct. He’s honest, and we love him for his honesty.”
He might actually be the right man for the moment, but I can't take anyone serious who doesn't recognise that he does say some stupid things, and I can't exactly believe his is honest - not that either points are unique in politics.

The simple fact in all these superficial arguments against Trump is that his critics don't want him to succeed - in anything - and they will do their best to twist the knife at every opportunity - and if the opportunity isn't there they will fabricate it. They would recognise honest appraisal if jumped up and hit them on the head!
The obvious answer to that is another question:
Exactly what IS Trump trying to do?
Does he even know himself?
If it is rejuvenate the rust belt, well he is plainly not going to succeed with his regressive tax and subsidy plans
If it is "wipe out IS" well, who doesn't want that, but no one possesses a magic wand there.
If it is make the US safer, his travel orders look suspiciously like cosmetic grandstanding to many
If it is keep out the "bad hombres" from Mexico, well maybe he should ask himself is it good for the US to alienate a neighbour and close trading partner, a country moreover which is in no way fits the stereotype he seems to have pigeon-holed it in, and which actually probably is a net loser from the border crossings, what with the influx of arms and drugs.
And on top of all that, he appear to be insane :-)

ichkeria - I broadly agree with the points you have made.
My view of President Trump has remained consistent since he was chosen as the candidate for the right -
He has a supremely simplistic view of the way the world in general, and politics in particular, works, and this is constantly underlined by what he says and what he does.
He adores Executive Orders because they are the closest thing he has to the autonomy he enjoyed in his business empire - he says, people do, no need to bother asking opinions, and heaven knows he doesn't think of requiring approval.
Coupled with that is his ludicrously naiive vision of how to solve major complex issues such as terrorism and immigration.
If stopping terrorism was simply a matter of banning people from one or another nations, then any and all of his predecessors would have done it decades ago. The simple fact is, it is just not that simple.
Similarly, the notion of 'building a wall' to stop illegal immigrants from Mexico shows that he either doesn't know that most illegals come in on valid visas and overstay, or, and I think this is more likely, he has been told, and chosen not to listen.
President Trump's urgent need to scattergun his thoughts without filter or advice on Twitter shows a level of immaturity that is utterly at odds with the complexities and seriousness of the office he holds, and on a daily basis, he continues to demonstrate to the world at large just how utterly unsuited he is to being in charge of anything he does not personally control.

Samjenko - //He's going to drain the swamp, ichi, and lock up all the corrupt crooks. (who an awful lot of ABers, mysteriously, support. //
I have no idea what 'draining the swamp' is supposed to mean, but I guess it is a colourful metaphor beloved of right-wingers who like to get excited about simplistic notions, which puts them fairly and squarely in the Trump way of thinking.
As to 'support' from AB'ers, I think you are making similarly sweeping statements, and similarly without foundation - any evidence to back up your unpleasant inferences gratefully received..
