Why Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn thinks party could win snap election

Jeremy Corbyn has told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme that the Labour Party would consider agreeing to a snap general election.

The comments from the Labour Party leader come after former Conservative leader Lord Hague's comments that such an act "would strengthen the government's hand at home and abroad" which could help with Brexit negotiations".

A No 10 source told the BBC it was not something Prime Minister Theresa May "plans to do or wishes to do".

The next election is due in May 2020 under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act.

do they have a hope<
there will not be a snap election, Labour would get hammered anyway.
No, he couldn't win, but he can't admit that.

It is unlikely that he would be asked, and even more unlikely that he would agree.
If there were no other parties involved labour would still come last.

that is rather a jaundiced viewpoint, not that i am a labour supporter.
Actually in a one horse race they would come last, they'd also come first!
Dave.....Labour is still the official opposition and even if they lost seats in a early Election, which would appear to look probable, Labour would still be the second largest Party.
Ha ha ha ha ha. Oh my, ha ha ha ha.

At what point does the opposition become a coalition?

///Jeremy Corbyn has told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme that the Labour Party would consider agreeing to a snap general election///

Just shows how far out of touch with reality Corbyn really is.
“I regard Corbyn as a disaster,” he said.

“His heart is in the right place and many of his policies are sound but he has allowed himself to be portrayed as a left-wing extremist.

“I think he should step down for the sake of the party.”

Say's Stephen Hawking.

Haaaa! Stephen Hawking has added Jeremy Corbyn to his list of threats to humanity. Love it! :o)
LOL, not looking good for Corbo is it.
Tony, that really made me laugh. Thank you for posting it.
There is of course a difference between
"Corbyn spontaneously calls for election and predicts victory"
and
"Corbyn, when questioned, claims his party would win an election if called"
"Jeremy Corbyn today admitted: we'd get thrashed"
THAT would be news. As it is: "Party leader says he WOULD win election if there was one but there isn't going to be" would be truthful but dull. And who needs any of that.
Labour winning an election!! now THAT is funny lol
Question Author
so little or no hope, should they change leader and who would be a good or not so good replacement.
We almost certainly can't name the person who will be the next Labour Prime Minister, Who had heard of Tony Blair in 1983?
The next leader will probably be a Michael Howard-type caretaker.
The damage wrought by the retro-action of reverting to Corbynism will take years to put right. That was always going to be the case.
I think hell will freeze over before Labour wins an election again !
