No.
Sadly there is a great deal of sense in what she says.

But she added "as a woman judge" it would "be remiss" if she did not plead with women to protect themselves from predatory men who ''gravitate'' towards drunken females.

perhaps she has a point, but i can't help but wonder that
many women don't, won't report a case of rape because they were worse for wear.
Why out of date?

Stay safe is good advice whoever says it, whether it is your mum, your sister or a high court judge.
She is not saying girls should not drink but that in our present society it can be very dangerous to drink too much. Whilst a girl should be able to drink herself into a stupor there are too many predatory men to make such a practice safe.
When I read this story I thought it was simply good advice. I do not think she was victim blaming, more simply acting from her experience in these cases....the type of thing a mum might say. Surely it is a truth...the drunker you are the more vulnerable you are to all sorts of things....including not being a good judge of your own behaviour..and here I am thinking of those that lash out as well as those that steal and innappropriate sexual behaviour.

because the onus is always on the woman, no matter what she is wearing, doing, had to drink or simply going about her business.

from rape crises

{ Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year; that's roughly 11 rapes (of adults alone) every hour. These figures include assaults by penetration and attempts.
Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted in England and Wales each year
1 in 5 women aged 16 - 59 has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16
Only around 15% of those who experience sexual violence choose to report to the police
Approximately 90% of those who are raped know the perpetrator prior to the offence

this is appalling whichever you look at it. How many are reported how many are ever caught and prosecuted.
It's simply an example of a judge stating the bleedin' obvious.

Statement 1:
"If you leave your car unlocked, with the keys in the ignition, you greatly increase the chances of having it stolen".
That statement doesn't justify car theft; it simply points out the risks of certain behaviour.

Statement 2:
"If you walk through a dodgy part of south London, late at night, conspicuously using an iPhone 7, while openly counting the large amount of cash you're carrying, you greatly increase the chances of being mugged"
That statement doesn't justify mugging; once again, it simply points out the risks of certain behaviour.

Statement 3:
"If you wear sexually provocative clothing, get totally drunk and then try to walk home alone through dark alleyways and across equally dark parkland, you greatly increase the chances of being raped"
That statement doesn't justify rape. It's roughly what the judge said though and, as above, is simply stressing the risks that come with certain behaviour.
Good advice for women and men
Your post says "out of date judge" I would say realistic, Wrong I know but realistic.
No she has sat on more cases than you have had hot dinners, she is saying it is difficult to try a case where the woman is so drunk she cannot remember if she gave consent or not.
Surely it makes sense that if you go out to get blotto that you ensure you are not left alone or put in a position of danger!
Question Author
perhaps you are right, i don't know.
I agree with her em.
I think she's right and am glad it was a woman that said it. If it was a male judge, he'd have been roasted.
I agree with the judge. The only thing missing when some women go out in groups for drinking sessions these days is a large notice around the neck which states '' help yourself''
Sounds to me like one person spouting off
its bloody good sensible advice
I shall probably get into hot water with the AB Sisterhood for saying this, but the Judge was only voicing some plain common sense here.

She said just jailed a man for 6 years for rape. She also said that men are to blame for rape, and who can argue with that.....I certainly can't recall the last tme a women was found guilty of raping a man !

But if people behave with complete disregard for their own safety, then don't they have admit that they are been less than sensible ?

If I were to park my car, with all the windows wide open and valuables left on the seats, wouldn't I be expected to share some of the blame, if some bar steward walked off with every thing, including the car, because I left the keys in the ignition as well ?
regrettably, no. What she said was carefully balanced: she wasn't just "victim-blaming".
Not 'out of date 'at all just good plain common sense.
If you get so drunk you can't remember what you did or said you may have to face the consequences!
What would you have her say? That a woman does not have the 'right' to get drunk?
As said it must be near impossible to prove that sex took place without consent when the woman was too drunk to remember what she said or what actually happened.
Women do not report many cases simply because they realise they were so drunk they do not know what happened, not because they are scared of reporting it.
If you read to the end this is an unusual case. There was a witness who heard the woman pleading with the man to stop. If it were not for that this would be another case where rape could not be proved.
