I’ve just read that the Commons have overwhelmingly rejected the Lords’ proposed amendments. On top of that the Labour members of the Lords have declared that they will not seek to reimpose their amendments (making the Bill’s passage through the Lords a virtual given) and that Royal Assent may be achieved tomorrow.
BUT, I've gone on to read that Mrs May plans not to trigger A50 until the end of the month. Er….why? The electorate had reasonable expectations that A50 would be triggered shortly after June 24th. I understand the reasons for the delay but, assuming the above is true, A50 can be triggered well before the end of this week. Why the further delay? Hasn’t the letter been drafted yet? By the end of the month another odious, interfering creep will have crawled from the woodwork with yet another spurious excuse to thwart the will of the electorate. Their opening statement will go something like this:
"I've no intention whatsoever of trying to derail Brexit, but....."
