I have to say that I was surprised at this news, because I honestly didn't realise that he was still alive.

Always liked the fact that his track 'My Ding-a-ling' would make my mother turn the radio to another station out of sheer embarrassment.

It's a sad enditement of our frothy 'pop' culture, that a man acknowledged as probably one of the finest lyricists ever to pen a song will be remembered by a lot of people for the execrable 'My Ding-A-Ling ditty.

Without CBB there would have been no popular music as we know it because, as they were alwys delighted to acknowledge throughout their careers, there would have been no Beatles or Stones without him.

let us not allow his dubious attributes as a human being blind us to his talent and influence - a wonderful musician and a sad loss.
