It's recommended if you regularly use vending machines, parking machines, trolleys etc that require coins to keep some of each type for a while until the machines are all adapted successfully.

I remembered; not overly fussed.


Now there's a thought. I've a couple of those coin things on the keyring in order to use a supermarket trolley when the untrusting supermarket wants to imply I'll steal their trolley. I guess it'll mean they are now obsolete unless they change the trolley slots to accept both sizes.

I have a couple of those brass, spring-loaded tubes, that you can slide pound coins into..... Very useful to leave in the cup-holder of the car, and I am wondering if these new coins will fit.

Does anyone know if they are the same diameter as the "old" coin ?

i think they are,
but won't fit into trolleys, at least not yet.
