Also, Trump is playing into the hands of the Russians, who have only oil and gas to sell to the world. They have very little else to sell that the world wants to buy, so are very reliant on such exports. It is in Russian interests to convince the world that the use of fossil fuels is acceptable. Trump supports this view. No wonder there are rumours that the Russians wanted Trump as president.

I agree with the point you make, but it won't fly when everything goes belly up.
I can envisage Mr Trump's whining speeches now - "I wanted to do this, and 'they' stopped me - it's not my fault ..."
But the problem comes when someone asks Mr Trump why he made promises which he didn't have a hope in hell of keeping, in order to get himself elected.
That's a question he may not be able to bombast or whine his way out of answering.
