I still can't get my head around the "15 months".

Caroline Baker was deemed fit enough to send to prison for 15 months. Therefore she is fit enough for prison.

She (and her husband) subjected a disabled woman to horrific sexual assaults while keeping her in a squalid room without carpet, a light bulb, bedclothes or curtains, and with a disgusting toilet overflowing with excrement, for eight years.

So the victim gets eight years of hell, and the perpetrator gets 15 months of relative cushiness ...

what hasn't been published but was on last evenings news there is another woman who was sexually abused by this man for years, she unlike the other victim seemed to have gone along with it, having any number of his children. She said she had no idea that the woman was held captive and that she hopes they rot in jail.

The offences came to light when another woman, known only as Miss X, alerted the authorities that a woman was being held hostage at the Bakers' home.

The court heard that Mrs Baker and Miss X had given birth to four children to Keith Baker and that in the two adjoining semi-detached houses "men lived in one half and the women in the other".

I'm sorry I don't see this at all, they were both care workers, the wife right up until she was arrested. I don't think confusing evil with stupidity or mental illness is helpful, I believe they functioned to a very high level otherwise they wouldn't have been able to commit their crimes for over 15 years. I just think they are thoroughly vile people and I would have liked to have seen his wife sentenced suitably as i think she got away with that virtually scot free.

the sentencing of the wife is a joke, 15 months - what message does that send out to would be offenders.

Sorry, it was 18 months, not 15 - still very much the same sentiment though.

I think the other abused woman was Mandy Highfield, wasn't it? Mother of 4 of Baker's 8 children. She was referred to in the link in the OP, and also in this article:

What an appalling crime. The wife should have got the same as the husband.
