Even Saint Tony and Bottler admit they were wrong. If you have a diesel car now is the time to flog it.

It simply steals more from those victimised by authority. (Since the tax increases/additions aren't fairly applied across the board it warrants the description stealing even if the legal profession would probably claim otherwise. Someone with a gun on the street mugs you are it's a crime; someone in government does it with a stroke of the pen and it's supposed to be ok: well it isn't.) Meanwhile it is immoral to scrap something that is still working fine. It's that sort of "throw away society" we need to curtail.
Sorry the current diesel emission standard is Euro 6, Euro 7 is still to be fully implemented and Euro 8 is in the planning stage
All diesel engines sold since September 2015 have to comply with Euro 6

I hate to say "I told you so" - but TTT and I have been banging on about dirty diesels for many, many years now. If you've bought one in the last three or four years then you must have had your eyes/ears closed to the potential for legislative changes.
Whatever the Euro standard it will never be good enough - engines get old, people get lazy about servicing, cars are not driven hard enough to clean the filters etc etc - we just need to get the things off the road to save lives.

Sunny Dave , you do not have to 'clean the particulate filters' on a Euro6 engine it is done automatically. If the filter is full the car automatically goes into the 'filter cleaning' cycle you can't do anything about it, you just have to drive normally until the car tells you the cleaning cycle is complete.
Not in the latest cars Dave, just normal driving with the engine up to full temperature will do, I have one remember!
My previous Zafira B did need to keep the rpm over 2000 to clean the filter, the new Zafira Tourer does not, just pottering around the town will do it. My 'filter clean' cycle came on last Friday it stayed on for 1/2 an hour of around town driving and then went off.
I checked the manual carefully as I was expecting to have to keep the revs over 2,000 as on the previous car, but there is no mention of the need for a minimum rpm now. It says to 'just keep driving until the cycle is complete'.
