Usa Have Fired Missiles At Syria
Bluddy hell, that was quick.

Assad the Butcher has been committing war crimes on an unprecedente d scale for years. The world has just stood around muttering but not actually doing anything. I am far from being a Trump fan, but handsome is as handsome does as far I am concerned. I give my full support to this action.

I've been reading all this and letting my thoughts evolve. 1st reaction was 'phew', Assad won't try any more chemical strikes, well-done Trump! Then I remembered what happened after Gadaffi was toppled, as a result of which so many lives have been lost and such evil chaos ensued. It is such an almighty mess out there and these are just the foremost issues - so many other factions and factors involved. Heart vs. head here.
If Assad has learnt not to commit genocide and use chemical weapons then he should probably be left alone. I accept that this is a debateable outcome, but it is how I see it at the moment. Western-style democracy will never be achieved in Syria i.m.o.. :(

It seems that Corbyn is at odds with those who support the air strikes against Syria.

v_e, //It's strange that some people (presumably with three digit IQs) cannot see that this question [from Garaman at 14:14] is important. //
Indeed it is. I've asked the question twice on this thread, without response. "Assad the Butcher" - tough words repeated over and over again - but what next? Anyone?

jourdain, that's about it. With the Sunnis numbering about 2 thirds of the population and hating not only the Iran-backed Shias, but every other denomination, if they were to take control you would see genocide on a terrifying scale.
How many times must the west interfere in the Arab world lacking understanding, or having any concept of what the end game might be?
Or maybe one of the AB armchair warrior regiment can propose a plan, but none has been forthcoming so far.

Genocide on an even more terrifying scale than now?
It's intriguing to note that everyone 'hates Assad' of yes of course they do but some refuse to accept what he has been doing and furthermore expect those of us who condemn him and support action against him to come up with a plan to solve the Syrian conflict!! My position on this is that it would probably be reckless to assassinate Assad tho I'd cheer loudly if it was gone. But for practical and moral reasons a solution that involves him staying on power is unfeasible. I must admit I didn't think anything would come of this latest unspeakable crime but maybe I was wrong and Assad HAS really now gone too far.
The solution when it ones will be political and won't involve trying to bring 'democracy' to Syria. Simply peace and the chance for all there to live in safety.

Itchy has hit the nail on the head here.
Of course it would be wonderful that this war criminal would be toppled from power.....people like him always make their way to hell, one way or the other.
I don't pretend to have the perfect solution to this problem, but Assad the Butcher cannot stay in power infinity.
Maybe he would have gone years ago, if other nations, including Britain and America hadn't brown-nosed him so much.

ichkeria, //some refuse to accept what he has been doing and furthermore expect those of us who condemn him and support action against him to come up with a plan to solve the Syrian conflict!!//
I don’t accept that he’s a teddy bear by any means, but the country is between the devil and the deep blue sea. The question must be which is the lesser of the two evils? The alternative will not provide “Simply peace and the chance for all there to live in safety”. Far from it.
Mikey, //Of course it would be wonderful that this war criminal would be toppled from power//
Given what I’ve said above, why would it be wonderful?

From The Spectator:
"The President, it seems, is not too dissimilar to the nightmare his political enemies warned us about: a nuclear-armed hothead itching to show the world how tough he is."
Those same enemies are now praising Trump for proving their predictions true. Bizarre.
(Sorry to hear about your loss, Naomi.)

if Assad topples from power and i can't see that happening what happens afterwards. There are many rebel groups waiting in the wings, and not all of them are going to like being told what to do by the west.
I would like peace to come to Syria,as it seems that all war has wrought is a lot of dead civilians, and millions displaced overseas.
