the accused previously told the court that jailing him would lose him a cricketing contract with a county side; this proved to be false:-

maybe I'm missing the point, but isn't the cricketing angle irrelevant? if you beat your wife, shouldn't you forfeit any right you believe you've got to protect your lifestyle? or is this yet another case where sport and its proponents are seen to be above the law?

Yes, when I first heard about this, I thought so what if he does lose his cricketing contract, the wife beating monster!! Now he's a proven liar as well ...
he should be renamed as Mustafa Sentence
he got 18 months for attacking his wife and making her drink bleach, what message does this send out, its bloody outrageous.
AND he won't serve the full 18 months I guess ...
Lying moron!
"...AND he won't serve the full 18 months I guess ..."

You guess right. He will be unconditionally released at the halfway point but as well as that he will almost certainly be eligible for release 90 days before that under the "Home Detention Curfew" scheme. This means he will serve 6 months.
Whip his bails off.
his old barrister refused I think to represent him
and anyway he got a new one....

Judge lost his sense of humour and threw the furniture round

there was an almost exact pre play of this a few years ago
( twenty ) = but read men's field hockey rather than cricket

the barrister that time did a U turn in mid speech
he er didnt hit it off with the judge

the judge wouldnt play ball - there was a catch in it all ......

the cricket club said his lying was ..... wicket !

even Mahmood said he had made a silly slip on the matter
he was extremely sorry - he would change his pitch ....

at least I am not making jokes about stockhom.....
If you are wrecking another life surely that should be judged on the facts alone and on no other criteria?
