its a very good idea, let us hope they have more of them, and its a pity that it has to take a Mosque to organise a British Tea Party. We used to have these on special occasions like the Queens birthday or on VE day, still i guess those days are long gone.

street parties are in the "too difficult" box for most these days - you have to pay to manage road closures and police them, and your events licence and insurance won't be cheap either.

councils can and do throw money at any old thing, so why can't streets organise themselves and throw even a small street party.

Emmie - when street parties were thrown they was much less traffic on the road and much less H&S.

Maybe because it imposes on their neighbours who want to use the road as a road ? Garden parties or village hall parties are more considerate of others. A mosque party sounds fine.

They held one in the Mall last year on the occasion of the Queen's 90th Birthday.

That is if you could afford the £150 per seat cost.

umm no idea, don't drive myself, and when we have had street parties they shut the road off, mind you that was a while ago.

Taking in to account some recent murderous events, they certainly would make people feel much safer.

nothing will stop a sustained attack as in the one in London recently, they can only block off the more sensitive areas like Buckingham Palace, Downing street, HOP.

Well it's a positive but what they need to do is move into the 21st Century, dress like British people, loose the Sharia Courts, speak the language(English) and loudly condemn(and grass up) those wishing us harm.

Until that happens throwing tea parties is just a nice to have.
