"The Brexit referendum was never about the EU. It was about immigration, or rather the average Briton's age-old horror of foreigners. "
Not for me, it wasn't, allen, as I've explained countless times (as recently as 13:00 on this question).
Forget the individual regulations imposed by the EU, or whether you agree with them or not. The question you must answer is whether you are prepared to sacrifice the control of your lawmakers because you trust that the lot that are (currently) entrusted with that task are more likely to look after your interests. Or, put another way, if the EU suddenly decided that (say) their Working Time Directive was no longer fit for the 28 members and was to be ditched, how would you then feel and what could you do about it?
