I used to quite like Which, but recently they do seem to be specialising in research which produces results that define "the bleeding obvious"

The duty savings are on booze and cigarettes and there are saving to be made particularly as most spirits sold at supermarkets are 70cl and duty free is 100cl. You can buy something like Mount Gay rum in Barbados duty free for less than a tenner and spend a lot more than that in a British supermarket. As I said, it depends what you buy and where in the world you buy it.
>>> Now hang on, going forward we'll get DF again when we leave will we not?
Unless we end up with 'soft Brexit' (which, at the moment, seems unlikely) the same rules will apply to imports from France, Belgium, Spain, etc as currently apply to imports from Australia, Singapore, the USA, etc.
So yes, 'duty free' will return for imports from the European mainland but it will only apply to 1 litre of spirits (OR 2 litres of wine) AND 200 cigarettes (OR 250g of tobacco):

Just seen your comments, goodgoalie - I first came to Tavira about 5 years ago - now it's the first place on any holiday destination list that I make.
A lovely, friendly place - so many good restaurants, bars and markets - we haven't even bothered with a hire car this time - everything we need is right here.
We're off back to Pausa this evenng for more tapas - I hope it's as good as last time.
