The torys have said what will happen when they are elected so when elected they can rightly say what we said is what we will do ,by your vote you have told us to go ahead and do it . is that right ?

No. Circumstances change and everything is just aims/goals. Once in they have a mandate to do whatever the house lets them get away with, because they're in charge. If they do everything they said they would then that's something of a bonus, although few are likely to approve of everything the government wants.

If they are as likely to be the biggest party where's their problem unless this is just a taster to what they really want to do .
Sort of yes sort of no.

Situations change and they may need to change to keep up.

However that is basically what any party, MP or government say. All the political party manifestos are 'this is what we want to do, vote for us and we'll do it'.
What it is really is "This is what we say we shall do so that you will vote for us" (or in the case of Jeremy Corbyn, "so you wouldn't vote for us even if we were the sole candidates").

Afterwards, they do what they like.
Yes....100% right weecalf....

if you want income tax rises, and old age pensions not to be protected properly, and you also want hunting wild animals with dogs to come back.....vote Tory.

Vote Tory....it will do exactly what it says on the can.

The Tory party have said what they will do with pensions ,winter fuel .So OAPs voting Tory is like turkeys voting for Christmas is it not .
Wee calf...exactly like turkeys voting for Xmas !

But that is what most of them will do in June.....vote against their own interests, rather than vote Labour.
This is grim news for the Tories. Electoral Calculus suggest their majority might be slashed from 170 to 168.
Weecalf/Mikey, unlike you, most people are realists - they don't believe in miracles. ;o)
At least they are informed Turkeys.

My parents are 73 and 78 and they are voting Tory because they know Labour are an economic basket case and will give away the family silver for a pittance, will attempt to tie our hands behind our backs when negotiating... well anything really.

They have lived through Labour governments and seen what a hash they have made of it.

They see and understand a lot more of how the real world works than champagne socialists and those too blinkered to see ever will.

Tories do it for us, Labour are an also ran, always have been, always will be.
Labour are the most selfish bunch I can think of.

They create and maintain the Me Me Me society. They create such dependency that the state HAS to provide for anyone with their hand stretched out regardless of need.

No party on the far left or far right will be any good for the country. Uncontrolled capitalism will fail as surely as uncontrolled socialism.
//They [Labour] create and maintain the Me Me Me society.//

as this confirms …..

// ….vote against their own interests, rather than vote Labour.//
Manifestos are an intention of direction, as pointed out above over the term of a parliament times change.

It amounts to if you want to bankrupt the Country in 6 weeks vote labour otherwise Tory.
//But that is what most of them will do in June.....vote against their own interests, rather than vote Labour.//

Voting for the greater good rather than your own interests, isn't that the noble thing to do?
Sometimes I find other people's view rather strange. The right are all for grabbing what you can for yourself, the left are for sharing responsibility and costs in society, yet the opinion is expressed that the Labour party is the one worthy of the "me me me" label. It's a strange world.
OG, I have always seen it that the Left are for sharing what others have worked for.
Well OG I often have the same thought about the other way.

But that's politics.

MY glass of milk is up to the half way mark and is half full. For some it is half empty and must be filled to the top and overflowing by everyone else.
Manifestos are just the smaller lies they tell to tide them over until they have power.
It makes the bigger broken promises less of a shock later on.
I've never understood why people think any pary can predict the next 5 years. It is said a week in Parliament is a long time - and it certainly is. Without the proverbial crystal ball is is impossible to predict World events that can and will alter the direction a Government should take. In fact problems often occur because Government try to stick doggedly to their manifesto due to the howls of 'U-Turn' from some who are unable to think past the end of their nose.
