Beeb reports that bomb disposal experts are on the scene. No reports yet of psychiatrists in attendance.
Explosion in foyer, apparently. "Any vetting of people entering foyer?" asked one Beeb reporter of a witness in the foyer. Panic rush to doors inside the arena. "Any stewards assisting in an orderly evacuation?" asked another Beeb reporter of a witness inside the arena.
I like these Beeb reporters. Where, think you, did they get their education? I wonder what they read.

It must have been absolutely terrifying the place would have been packed. I lived in Manchester for 5 years and I know exactly where it is and how busy it would have been. These poor people I just hope it is not as bad as it sounds but from North West Ambulance service and police statements it sounds very serious. I think more people will have been hurt in the panic to get out than the explosion itself
///The North West Counter Terrorism Unit is treating the incident in Manchester as a possible terrorist incident, sources said.
Senior national Counter-Terrorism officers are assembling in London and are liaising with the Home Office.
Early estimates put the number of fatalities in double figures, but these are very early stages.///

While we all sympathise with the victims, I think we should all maintain a sense of proportion both in evaluating the risk and adjudging the correct response to it. These unfortunate incidents will become more common because we live in a modern society committed to values of open borders, multiculturalism and diversity. We will have more bad eggs who will take advantage of these policies and these values. But they (the bad eggs) don't represent the vast majority of our new neighbours whose core values of tolerance are identical to ours. To overreact is to buy into the terrorists' agenda.
