Ms. Abbott needs to learn a few basic lessons about front-line politics.
One of the most important lessons is this one –
You will be interviewed often and at length by senior experienced political journalists. These people do their research, they know the figures, and if you even hint that you don’t know what you should, they will eat you alive.
Another lesson is –
You should anticipate in advance the sort of questioning you are going to get, and have your answers ready. Failure to do so makes it look as if you don’t know what you are doing. As a senior shadow cabinet member, this is an image that is the death of your career as a senior politician.
And the last lesson is –
Politics is a sentiment-free zone. Regardless of your notion that you and Jeremy Corbyn are ‘close’ – win or lose this election, you are toast because you are a liability and he is far too prone to gaffing himself to be able to afford to have someone like you around doing it better than he does.
Goodbye Ms. Abbott – it’s been real … or not!
