Tories get 58 more seats than Labour, yet they are said to have lost the election. I know the reasons why but, as Margaret Thatcher said when ousted by her own colleagues, it's a funny old world.

And more votes than Blair in 1997/Thatcher in 1983.

There are many ways to read the result. I suppose one other interpretation was that May was unlucky that her opposition coalesced around one party, rather than splitting between two.

//And more votes than Blair in 1997/Thatcher in 1983. //

Population 1983 - 56m
Population 1997 - 58m
Population 2017 - 65m

It'snot only a funny old world, it's a rapidly expanding world.
Of course they lost the election, the PM went to the country thinking that she would get a 100 - 150 seat majority and she and the Tories got spanked!
The public saw right through her, she failed to debate with the other main parties, she failed to say what her manifesto was, she failed to meet 'real' people in her tour of the country, she made sure it was all staged managed.
She visited my constituency and went to a local bowling club in a posh part of the area I live, just a mile up the road there is a run down council estate, packed with single mothers on benefits and drug dealing boyfriends, did she go and talk to them, of course not, Jeremy Corben did!
She won't last 3 months IMO, the quicker she goes the better!
Yes, the Tories DID lose the election!

Birds of a feather and all that? (^_*)

Well, he would, wouldn't he. He has a lot to offer them - at the expense of everyone else.
What would have been the point in talking to them? They would never have voted Tory when JC was offering them more free money from me.
^ apart from the fact that most of them are too young to vote ...
There are a lot of sore losers on here today, similar to what happened in June last year over Brexit!
You lost, get over it!
Reading the Guardian yesterday, I laughed aloud, and splurted my coffee, at an article describing the Tory leader as 'suffering from delusions of adequacy'.
The Tories held the election precicely because they though they would win more seats but they actually lost seats.

They have been better off if they didn't call the election in the first place and that is why they are classed as 'losing'.
