I can't see if there's anyone called June on the Tory party list.

But who could possibly take over with any credibility?

I've seen Boris and Reese-Moog mentioned - but clearly they are not serious contender as they have little mass appeal.

Who are some likely candidates to fill Mrs May's leopard print heels?

Jim, //the side that came out worse off…//

The losing side’s consolation prize. Corbyn remains an ‘Also Ran’.
Yes Scooping- sorry you're not more familiar with North of Ireland politics before you start spouting about it, however the DUP have strong historical links with Loyalist paramilitary groups.Particularly the terrorist group Ulster Resistance was founded by a lot of people who went on to be DUP politicians. Peter Robinson who was DUP leader and Northern Ireland’s First Minister until recently, was an active member of Ulster Resistance. The group’s activities included collaborating with the Ulster Volunteer Force and the smuggling of weapons to both the South of Ireland and the Mainland.
Kvalidir: So which elected members of the DUP are you accusing of being, or having been, paramilitaries? Think really hard.
Can you not use Google since you appear to know so little Scooping, just google DUP Paramilitary links' or check out their MP's by name- this is a recent little indiscretion of theirs and the further back you go the bigger the indiscretiions. Try this for starters- http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/general-election-2017/dup-chief-arlene-foster-met-uda-boss-days-after-loyalist-murder-in-bangor-35776873.html
Kvalidir: Surely you must have some names?
Fine then you lazy git, start with Peter Robinson- I'm not spoon feeding you this, no-one could possibly be as naive as to not know the DUP's rep even if they aren't from Ireland.
Kvalidir while I am not a DUP supporter you have to accept that the DUP has moved on from the days of Peter Robinson pouncing about in a beret and Ian Paisley sent on Buckna with Ilster Resistance.
As long as Sammy Wilson is not made environment minister I can't see the world ceasing to turn. They aren't going to start demanding the hanging of lesbians or the banning of Sunday opening.
Ian Paisley snr :-)
ichkeria...with the greatest of respect, the DUP really haven't moved on at all. They are still deep in the Dark Ages, with their bigoted policies.
Mikey the DUP, many of whose members have views we would regard as bizarre, are the main party of govt on N Ireland along with Sinn Fein whose association with Jeremy Corbyn has also caused alarm among many. I'd rather they weren't in the position they are bit saying they are in the dark ages is unfair
Ken Clarke caretaker leader til party conference in October? Weirder things have happened (like the result of the election).
Unfair my ass Itchy !

Their education chap is a creationist !
As I say mikey : bizarre views. But doesn't Chris Grayling have some strange beliefs? That's NI for you. My RE teacher in NI was a creationist and he was also my form teacher but I don't think this is going to lead to compulsory creationist RE in GB any more than it has in NI
Their environment minister was a climate change denier! So are many people on this forum
And imagine if we learned that Theresa May had turned to the Answerbank for support!
Well put & well said Jim.
Thanks, wr -- not often that we agree, I think, but it's nice to have an endorsement from you all the same :)
"May will probably be wondering what the sharp, cold pain just below her back ribs are very shortly!"

That's just her forgetting to tuck her pointy tail in properly.
Ruth Davidson should be the next leader of the Conservatives, but there is the hurdle to cross of her not being an MP.

A kindly MP in a safe seat could resign and force a by-election, where Davidson could get elected. The volunteering Candidate could be fast tracked back in with the promise of a good job.
Gromit, the fragrant Ruth is much needed up here to press the First Miniature on her wilder proclamations. The Scottish Labour leader doesn't have the wit or wisdom, that's for sure
England should find their own solutions to this problem while the craven Scotch bolster the regime that tore the UK apart with an outburst of pique from an underqualified lightweight, one D. Cameron.
