Just when he had things going his way, it seems Jezza can't resist proposing some fantasy based ideas of toppling the Gov't:

Well put it this way: if it does get defeated, then the symbolism is clear: no Tory minority government, another election in August, and actually that would be the fault of a few Tory rebels or a failure to get the DUP onside.

Incidentally, in that case, wouldn't you be glad May was going anyway? She's aimed (and failed) to get a mandate to lead rather more important negotiations than with the DUP. In that case why should we trust her anyway to lead those negotiations?

As a Conservative supporter, the sooner a leader who took us from a 20 point lead to near failure is ousted, tne better.

As a Labour supporter, you must be thrilled that Jezza seems back to his former 'cloud cuckoo land' vision for Britain's future.
ZM, according to George Osborne she won't last another week.
Whither Dianne Abbott? She should be basking in the warm glow of her leader's 'victory', graciously accepting the plaudits for her pivotal role in the campaign.
Question Author
Meanwhile Labour's shadow chancellor calls for the 'winning team's' cabinet to be kept together. I wonder why he should say that....and does it mean Abbot will still be in there?
I wouldn't be so sure he would do so well in another election.
The vast majority of people I have spoken to who voted Labour think Corbyn is a fruitloop but they still voted Labour to stave off a Tory landslide.

And Labour are not all of a sudden a happy family.
Well, as I say, it will depend on the circumstances of that next election. But it stands to reason that a Tory party seen to be in total disarray (as opposed to just heading that way) won't be in a position to win.
They will have time to get their house in order before another election
Corbyn lost the plot, don,t think so. He has just smashed the Tory majority, caused a hung parliament, snatched the seat of Kensington from them, and is now six points ahead of the tories, and if an election was called now he would probably win
Forgot to add ,Corbyn has caused the almost certain sacking of their leader and PM
I think she did that all by herself by running a rubbish campaign.

Problem is Danny, they are so desperate for power that they will try and take the credit for everything at the moment.
he's going to vote the queens speech is he? Right oh? have several Tories crossed the floor in the mean time or is he applying labourithmetic to the commons now?
..// I don't think that anybody has ever voted down the Queens Speech // Danny K

The Queen (V) opened the new Parliament on 24 Aug 1841. (Melbourne prime minister) On the same day, Conservative MP John Stuart-Wortley proposed in the House of Commons an amendment to the House's address in answer to the Queen's Speech, which claimed that the government no longer possessed the confidence of Parliament.... (motion carried)

so that is one. ( for slow readers: that is one queens speech that was defeated in the House of Commons)( in contrast to Danny K saying there wasnt one)

why do I even bother to rise to these challenges ?

ZM classically doesnt rise above an excellent Stanley Unwin impression - combunctious manytimes wibbly wobbly woo static.
But ZM does it much better than me - plus plus obvious combuliance

o god you mean that ZMz original post wasnt a Stanley Unwin impression - it was a serious comment ?

combunctious sombulia ! manytimes infused !

In that case welcome back to AB on a 'normal' Sunday afternoon

[if any of you monkeys want to know the connection between ZM and Stanley Unwin I am sure the fella can swing you the gen himself]
Sorry PP I wasn't around in 1841
He's kicking an opponent while she's down. It's understandable : he's taken a lot of crap from the likes of me and most people on here and I don't begrudge him his moment of schadenfreude
He lost the plot years ago.
// Sorry PP I wasn't around in 1841// Danny K

the problem dear danny is that history always seems to have happened before you were born..... [o is that a cue for my fave one liners about history?]

1.those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it
2. history is always repeated - once as comedy and secondly as tragedy
3. zair eez only warn lesson from history an zat eez there are no lessons from history ( Maurois or Mauriac or s/o else)
Goes to show how much I know. I didn't my even know they could vote down the queens speech.

This is what Corbyn is all about though. Got.ing against everything. That is his modus operandi. Why is anyone surprised?
