No, what good would it have done?
Question Author
Well apparently some would have appreciated her doing so
I can't imagine it would have gone down well if she had gone out to meet victims. She's not exactly warm and cuddly like her opposition.

I certainly wouldn't be pleased to meet her had I suffered a tragedy. I mentioned something similar on a previous thread but can't find it now. Has it been pulled?

Yeah , I can see where you are coming from
Baz....I used to carry a Thatch Card.....saying if I was involved in something where I ended up in hospital I wasn't to be visited by Margaret Thatcher.....

I think Theresa May could have done better than she seems to have done.......at least on the news I'm getting......but perhaps not......x

IPO
I see no reason the public should expect her to, but given her misplaying of the election campaign someone might have mentioned that many would want it, that it would help her public image to do so, and knock it again if she didn't. No point in giving her detractors more ammunition.
No, firstly she went there to ensure the technical side of things was running, secondly looking at the people on the News going on about it they were not wanting to appreciaate her but to have a go (and not without reason). This would have meant a massive security operation as there are significant numbers of people very angry and looking for someone to blame.

Sajid Javid is going today to push the 'human' side - he SHOULD meet the victims as he is there for him.
Well gness, I certainly wouldn't want Corbyns smug mug in my face either.
Damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. Media making too much of this.
How can you expect a Con PM to even talk to working class people , never mind shake hands with them , the thought of it probably makes her feel ill.
Yes of course gulliver. I would not expect anything different from you.

YMB, You answered that one quicker than a rat could run up a drain pipe.
She might have wanted to, but had been advised not to for various reasons.
At least she has ordered the release of emergency funds to ensure they are provided for.
I think that it is pathetic to try and make a political point from such a tragedy.
Youngmafbog.......why are you telling me that?....I don't think I mentioned Corbyn, did I?
"NO, firstly she went there to ensure the technical side of things was running. [ dream on]
exactly donny although she doesnt do herself any favours for people to like her!
Yes of course she should. Half her her current woes are caused because she's isolationist and unlikable. She should have gone there and said openly to the people 'I am so so sorry this has happened and I'm here to listen to you and find out what went on and do something about it, even if you don't like me personally you have my word I will do that'. She's living in the past where everything was apart from the common man and people don't like it. She'd have been yelled at and blamed and all of the rest of it, but people would have to have respected the fact that she turned up and lent support, as it is she's just another dead loss politician who looks like she doesn't really care and who will back her party mates up who voted down the motion to insist that rental properties were safe for habitation.
