Any Of You Live In Tower Block?
21 Answers
Fortunately I never have, except when I worked abroad, but if you do, have you any concerns about the safety, where you live, or has the landlords been in contact?
Its seems ridiculous, that hotels and guest houses, big & small, have to have, by law, strict fire safety apparatus, sprinklers, fire blankets, fire alarms, enough fire escapes etc, but tower blocks holding 200/300/400 and more people don't?

In fact, this last year the council have spent thousands updating the fire safety precautions. (eg, we now have smoke alarms wired directly into the mains electric supply rather than the old battery operated ones)
Ive lived in several high rise flats over the years and NEVER had any concerns.

My Daughter lived on the 9th floor of one for a while, the security, maintenance and safety were abysmal, the only saving grace was the fabulous views.
Glad when she moved.
I live in low rise, we have issues re fire safety measures too but fortunately not too high up to escape somehow.
It is paramount things must be tightened up in high rise definitely.

I was reading a response on another forum by someone who lived in a high-rise in, I think, Hong Kong (it also had only one staircase). It was a mix of rich and poor people; the rich people got the highest flats with the best views, a bit like in the film High Rise. Anyway, the writer, who is not rich, was coming to realise that the lower floors were best, the people in the top floors were at much greater risk from this kind of disaster.
