In tried asking this on the thread about the Finsbury Park Mosque but think it deserves a thread in it's own right.
I appears that the car/van was become the 'weapon of choice' for anyone that wants to kill people !
I am scared by this as using a car has none of the problems of using a gun . Cars are not regulated but guns are very tightly controlled , at least in the UK!
I AM NOT looking for the political implications, just the wider and more relevant practical implications that using something that we all accept as normal or even mundane as a weapon!
Is it feasible or even possible to produce a viable defence against such attack ?

DD I am talking about the general problem of vehicles being used as a weapon !
NOT the 'Terrorist' aspect but the general concept of a car being used as a weapon in preference to more conventional weapons such as knives and guns.
Vehicles have been used as weapons in purely criminal activities . As well as 'ram raids' and similar attacks.
My corner shop has been 'ram raided' 4 times in the last 10 years the last time they stole the entire cash point machine with all the cash in it!
you could ban all motorised vehicles from the road and some maniac would cause carnage with a horse and carriage

A car or van would be nothing to the damage that a deranged maniac with a large fork lift truck could do !!! It could simply pick up a car or van and drop it on the crowd! Some forklifts can pick up a 35 tonne container and drop it wherever the driver chooses. Yes I have passed a fork truck driving course!
